Role

*THIS IS A FULLY REMOTE ROLE*

We are seeking an organized, proactive, and adaptable Driver Manager/Dispatcher to oversee both dispatching and driver management. This role is essential to keeping our operations running smoothly by ensuring deliveries are completed on time while also helping to recruit, onboard, and manage our independent contractors.

This is a dual role, with the long-term goal of transitioning the selected candidate into a full-time Driver Manager as our company grows. At that point, we will hire a separate Dispatcher to take over day-to-day dispatching duties.

Starting in dispatch provides an excellent foundation for becoming a successful Driver Manager. It offers direct insight into how customers place orders, what issues arise in real time, and how drivers need to stay organized to ensure smooth deliveries. This hands-on experience helps build the skills necessary to recruit, manage, and retain high-performing drivers effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Dispatching & Order Coordination
  • Receive, process, and assign delivery requests to independent contractor drivers.
  • Monitor real-time delivery statuses and adjust assignments as needed to meet service deadlines.
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers to ensure smooth execution of deliveries.
  • Resolve service issues, delays, and other challenges in real time with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver assignments, delivery times, and any service disruptions.
  • Driver Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Identify, source, and actively recruit qualified drivers to expand the companys delivery capabilities.
  • Conduct interviews and screenings to ensure drivers meet company standards.
  • Onboard new drivers by providing training, outlining policies, and ensuring a positive first experience.
  • Driver Management & Retention
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing drivers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for driver inquiries, issues, and feedback.
  • Motivate and engage drivers to ensure long-term retention.
  • Monitor driver performance, providing guidance or feedback as necessary to maintain service quality.
  • Customer & Contractor Support
  • Provide quick and professional responses to customer inquiries via phone, chat, or email.
  • Effectively “sell” independent contractors on accepting delivery assignments by highlighting key benefits (route convenience, earnings potential, etc.).
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure driver availability aligns with customer demand.
  • Strategic Growth & Process Improvement
  • Identify gaps in coverage and work to proactively recruit and schedule drivers to meet growing demand.
  • Help develop and refine operational processes to improve efficiency in dispatching, recruiting, and onboarding.
  • Provide data-driven insights and reports to leadership to optimize the driver pool and improve customer service levels.

Requirements

  • B2/C1 English proficiency - Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent negotiation skills - Comfortable making calls and persuading drivers to take assignments.

  • Familiarity with logistics, transportation, or courier services is a significant advantage.
