Junior Operations Manager - Retail / FMCG

My client, a premier producer and retailer of high-quality biltong and dried meat products, is seeking to employ a Junior Operations Manager as part of their growth strategy and bolstering their corporate retail stores and events departments. This role will support the area manager in their 12 corporate retail stores and take over operational duties at their contracted events.

Position overview:

The Junior Operations Manager will be mainly responsible for daily store operations, store presentation, compliance with company standards and employee management. You will take control of event operations, such as site meetings, event applications, set-up / breakdown, employee allocations per event, administration etc.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist Area Manager with daily responsibilities and duties in 12 corporate stores and 2 franchise stores
• Manage a staff compliment of 35 employees across 12 corporate stores across Cape Town and ensure employee availability for each shift
• Work closely with management to ensure that each store meets annual budgets
• Oversee and maintain the implementation of company-regulated merchandising, displays and product presentation
• Manage all given projects and task by executing the timeously and effectively
• Conduct minor instore maintenance and repair duties
• Assist Retail / Event Manager with event operations - application, planning, set up, break down, staffing, co-management oof large events and maintenance of event equipment

Qualifications, experience and requirements:

• Proven junior management experience in FMCG retail sector of at least 5 years
• Strong retail management skills, employee management, POS systems, stock management, financial management
• Excellent mentoring and communication skills, with the ability to build professional relationships
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously ad deliver results with tight deadlines
• Analytical thinker, problem solver and attention to detail
• Experience with event planning or management will be greatly to you advantage
• Willingness to travel as needed to various location and work irregular hours / days
• Own reliable vehicle with towbar plus valid drivers licence essential

Remuneration

• Competitive basic salary plus vehicle and petrol allowance
