JOB PURPOSE

The warehouse maintenance engineer/foreman role is to ensure that engineering services, including maintenance, are provided to facilitate an efficient and safe warehouse operation. Overall responsibility for engineering projects and maintenance, including utilities and buildings. The primary objective of the job is to implement improvements contributing to Logistics targets, and to effectively maintain all operational and support elements of the Warehouse.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

Developing and Aligning Strategy and Plans

Defining engineering requirements to meet corporate/business objectives/strategies.

Manages CAPEX in area of responsibility.

Manage the technical / maintenance teams responsible to deliver Projects, Innovation, Infrastructure and Services to the site. Develop, deploy, and implement plans to ensure the best utilization of assets in the sites as well as supervise and give guidance on the maintenance of such assets.

Lead the Innovation implementation on the site, differentiate between short term tactics and long-term strategy.

Align engineering and operational priorities.

Responsible for the Safety of all project-related operations within the warehouse, as well as maintaining and setting of safe working procedures; including management of Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of project management from design, equipment selection, project implementation (site safety), commissioning and final project handover.

Balancing flexibility, complexity and reliability with scale and scope economies.

Develop and manage the sustainability agenda within the warehouse operation.

Target Setting and Action Planning

Setting balanced targets for self and team in line with logistics strategy

Assessing targets in terms of benchmark data; agreeing targets with staff and departments.

Coach and develop the team across the site on technical and technology issues.

Applying process improvement techniques and fostering a continuous improvement culture.

Continuous Improvement

Create and implement plans to continuously improve site infrastructure needs such as energy, water, treatment, and all infrastructure services, contracts, and contractors.

Conducting/instigating (appropriate) data collection

Implementation and management of engineering standards

Interpreting service data (quantitative/statistical and qualitative) and make relevant decisions and implement corrective actions or initiatives.

Understand biggest energy/resource users and develop innovative ways to reduce, get

Capex approved, implement project and measure/report improvement.

Maintain Engineering Services

Ensure that all statutory maintenance schedules are updated and completed on time.

Always ensure all back up services regularly tested and available

Ensure completion of routine as well as ad-hoc maintenance to eliminate impact and operations and safety

Ensure that all SHEQ and Unilever audit actions are completed.

Ensure that that all SHEQ incidents related to equipment damages are reported, investigated, and corrected.

Makes sure that the equipment is safe and ready to be utilized at all times.

Ensure that Quality of the work conducted is to the highest possible standard and lowest cost.

Ensure that the facility is in good state and always maintained.

Optimize maintenance cost.

Scope

Manage the Projects, Innovation and Maintenance budgets. Asset care and improvement through establishing and maintaining an effective system of preventative maintenance applicable to plant and services.

Builds and maintains relationships with contractors to ensure smooth completion of specified tasks in contracts and compliance with standards.

Manage the engineering contractors and ensure statutory and legal compliance.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

  • Relevant B.Tech Diploma OR N5/N6 Electrical,
  • Mechanical or Millwright
  • Proficient leadership and management experience across Teams, Stakeholders and Suppliers/ Third Parties/ Contractors
  • Must have lead projects from end to end, control, and project execution.
  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing industry and capital
  • Projects
  • Proven track record in managing budgets.

PREFERRED

  • FMCG experience
  • Understanding of Logistics principles

SAP experience
