Associate Lecturer (3 year fixed period contract) - History Education

ASSOCIATE LECTURER • A PhD candidate in History or History Education (evidence of PhD Candidature is a requirement) • Evidence of research and knowledge of History as a school subject • A professional teaching degree (B Ed/PGCE/PG Dip HE) • At least one year applicable practical, teaching and research experience in schools and/or University. • Ability to communicate complex or conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding of History content and History teaching concepts. • Evidence of teaching at university level as a tutor is essential. • Preference will be given to suitably qualified candidates from designated groups as defined in the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Teaching on undergraduate History Education courses • Develop research agenda, publish in accredited scholarly journals. • Supervision of honours students research projects to completion. • Contribute to the values of the school: teaching excellence, inclusivity, digital innovation, student success, etc. • An ability and willingness to work in teams.
