Programmes Overview:
Firstly, TechnoServe is collaborating with the Anglo American Foundation and partners with aim of enhancing the livelihoods of vulnerable workers while creating new quality opportunities for youth in the countrys recycling sector, providing target beneficiaries with access to more, better quality and higher-paying jobs in the circular economy. TechnoServes ambition is to develop a center of excellence in a targeted geography, that will demonstrate the viability of an integrated approach to enterprise development along the circular economy value chain and which, will become an example to be scaled across other townships in South Africa and regionally.
Secondly, TechoServe has partnered with CITI Bank to support and develop youth and women businesses in the provinces of Gauteng and Western Cape.
In order to improve the prospects for SMMEs, in all the programmes, we will support entrepreneurs by further developing their business skills, market and finance linkages. We will implement 4 key activities to build the business skills capacity of entrepreneurs. The core activities focus on providing business skills development training and advisory to the selected businesses. It will be followed by aftercare support to entrepreneurs, where the trained entrepreneurs continue to be supported to shift to growth and job creation. During the period businesses will also be assisted with access to markets and finance.
The position will also support TechoServe limited human resources activities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Data management, record keeping and reporting
- Ensure that all activities are accurately recorded in the management information system. This implies reviewing data captured by all programme teams and ensuring that the data is current and accurate
- Working closely with the implementation teams and M&E Manager, manage the capturing of baseline data, which becomes the departure point from where progress is measured in terms of turn-over, full-time, and part-time jobs etc.
- Ensure client satisfaction surveys are issued after training, mentorship, business linkages and other events and consolidating the data collected into a report
- Supporting the Implementation Manager to provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and other stakeholder reports as required
- Supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager to extract relevant data as required.
Program administration:
- Provide office support services to ensure efficient and effective operations of the programme teams
- Work with team in drafting programme participation agreements and ensure they are timeously fully executed and properly filed.
- Make preparations for meetings and events if required
- Organize travel arrangements and logistics if required
- Receive and send official mail
- Assist in planning and preparation of meetings, conferences, and conference telephone calls
- Placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies
- Provide information by answering questions and requests if required
- Respond to questions from visitors to the extent possible, and refer to other appropriate staff member as necessary
Statutory Requirements
- To compile and prepare the Skills Development report and submit it to Services Seta
- To compile and prepare the Employment Equity report and submit to the Department of Labour
- To compile and prepare the Workmen Compensation report and submit to the Department of Labour
- To compile and prepare for a BEE Certificate.
Recruitment and Selection
- Manage local recruitment of key TechnoServe South Africa personnel
- Establish systems and support local recruitment of junior/mid-level TechnoServe South Africa personnel.
- Integrate relevant feedback from TechnoServe global HR function about continued enhancement of recruitment processes with global requirements to deliver on national strategic vision
Perform other duties that would be assigned from time to time by the supervisor
REQUIREMENTS
Numerical Aptitude / Information management/business management diploma or other appropriate 3-year qualification, with statistics as a subject
- At least 4 years experience in data management and reporting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English)
- Very methodical and strong organizational skills
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
- A passion for data and statistics
- Good interpersonal and communications skills in a multi-cultural environment
- Positive attitude and ability to work proactively and independently to support the team
- Ability to work under pressure and commitment to meet deadlines
- Ability to review the work (data captured) of colleagues and to provide feedback in terms of accuracy and quality, even if those people are more senior
- Comfort with learning how to work with new software applications
