Job Objectives

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure using infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to enable automated testing, building, and deployment (AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps, Argo)
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security using observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, CloudWatch, Sentry)
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization and costs across AWS or Azure environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues in production environments
  • Implement security best practices and compliance requirements throughout the infrastructure
  • Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce human error
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 production support
  • Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity solutions

Technical Responsibilities

  • Containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and related technologies
  • Configuration management with tools like Ansible, Chef, Packer, or Puppet
  • Network configuration, security, and troubleshooting
  • Implementation of logging, monitoring, and alerting systems
  • Performance tuning and capacity planning
  • Security vulnerability assessment and remediation
  • Documentation of systems, processes, and incident response procedures

Collaboration Responsibilities

  • Work closely with development teams to improve deployment processes
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to understand requirements
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and implement improvements
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and technology selection
  • Stay current with industry trends and recommend innovative solutions
Qualifications

Certifications (Nice to Have)

  • Cloud certifications (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer)
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS)
  • Site Reliability Engineering certifications
  • Linux administration certifications (RHCE, LPIC)
Experience
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
  • Experience with basic infrastructure as code concepts
  • Experience with package management and software installation
  • Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic)
Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems and command line interface
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts and protocols
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of CI/CD principles and basic pipeline setup
  • Ability to perform basic system troubleshooting
  • Understanding of operating system security fundamentals
  • Knowledge of basic system monitoring and logging practices
  • Understanding of storage management and file systems
  • Strong expertise in infrastructure as code tools (Terraform)
  • Advanced knowledge of container orchestration platform Kubernetes
