Job Summary

The Junior Underwriter will support the underwriting of commercial and personal insurance policies throughout the policy lifecycle, ensuring accurate risk assessment and pricing. This role involves working with intermediaries and applying basic technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing and underwriting new insurance quotes for intermediaries.
  • Help manage large commercial quotes and ensure policies are issued correctly.
  • Provide basic advice on underwriting and risk acceptance across various commercial insurance areas.
  • Support the handling of referral risks and unique scenarios.
  • Assist in interpreting and processing insurance information.
  • Load new policies onto the system and process policy amendments.
  • Assist with bulk policy increases and book takeovers.
  • Develop relationships with intermediaries and assist with policy-related inquiries.
  • Stay informed on commercial and personal insurance products and systems.

Requirements

  • Matric certificate.
  • RE1 or RE5 (recommended).
  • Minimum COP or an insurance-related qualification (recommended).
  • FAIS compliance: Minimum 60 credits in Commercial Lines.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in commercial and personal insurance (required).
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and insurance systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Bilingual (English & Afrikaans).
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
