SHIFT SUPERVISOR - PRODUCTION

AKS Lining Systems have a position, in Brackenfell available for a Shift Supervisor in the Production Department.

The job incumbent will supervise production employees. The ideal candidate should have proven experience in the Plastics industry, plastic extrusion, and strong leadership skills. The job incumbent will be required to work shifts, long hours and weekends as and when required, and will report to the Production Co-ordinators.

Duties:

Hands-on supervisor who manage a team of production employees and production processes to ensure production runs smoothly and production goals are met.

· Supervising production staff

· Adhere to implementing and monitoring of Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management System.

· Performing constant verification checks on machines, stock and employees

· Performing quality and health and safety inspections

· Coaching and training employees - Educates and instils company processes and procedures to each production staff member.

· Foster team work

· Handling disciplinary matters

· Works closely with Production Co-Ordinators to provide a consistent and honest message to the employees through daily guidance and motivation.

· Organize and plan the shift to ensure maximum production with minimum effort and confusion and maintain discipline on the shift.

· Ensure the production line is supplied with necessary tools, work orders, material, etc.

· Coordinate line set ups (settings) and delegate tea and lunchtimes to ensure smooth transitions from one process / product run to another.

· Inspect materials, products and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

· Ensure product quality through routine checks on line and observations during the day in line with ISO requirements. Final product quality and reporting thereof is the responsibility of the Supervisor.

· Accurate completion of production records and shift reports.

· Assist with material reconciliation at the completion of production runs.

Requirements:

· MUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LICENSE AND OWN TRANSPORT

· Matric

· Relevant tertiary qualification in a production field will be advantageous

· At least 5 years plastic extrusion experience, of which at least 3 years is a leadership role.

· Extensive experience of quality

· Effectively communicate verbally and in written form.

· Knowledge of work instructions for all positions on the Production floor and how it relates to specific duties, tasks, and assignments.

· Computer literate: MS Office

· Own transport will be advantageous.

· Knowledge and understanding of OHSA and knowledge of the BCEA.
